Judy Smith

Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President

Judy Smith has spent more than 30 years in the pharmaceutical and plasma industries. Always on the front line of innovation and advancement, Judy and her team have lead the expansion of Octapharma Plasma’s U.S. operations in support of the growing demand for plasma-derived medicines. This vision supports Octapharma’s corporate mission of improving the health and lives of donors and patients. With Judy at the helm, Octapharma Plasma Inc. has evolved from 300 employees and 12 centers to more than 3,000 employees and 45 plasma collection centers across the U.S. She has also championed the construction and completion of Octapharma Plasma’s new state-of-the-art, high-tech testing laboratory and plasma storage facility that houses all corporate operations for the Charlotte, NC, headquarters. Prior to joining Octapharma in 2008, Judy was vice president of plasma operations at ZLB Plasma in Boca Raton, FL. Judy holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and an MBA from DePaul University.

Barry Pomeroy

Vice President, Finance

Barry Pomeroy joined Octapharma Plasma Inc. in 2009 after spending much of his career at R.L. Stowe Mills Inc. as chief financial officer. Barry is responsible for the development and performance of Octapharma Plasma’s corporate financial management strategy including fiscal policies and procedures that contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. He has full oversight of Octapharma Plasma’s economic mission and supervises all legal matters to ensure compliance. He has implemented cost-management, cost saving as well as risk-management strategies to ensure financial efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. Barry received his MBA from James Madison University and is a North Carolina CPA.

Bill Griner

Senior Director, Operations

Bill Griner has more than 20 years of plasma industry experience. Bill oversees all U.S. plasma collection operations encompassing more than 45 donation centers across 20 states and growing. Bill’s primary focus is the continuous identification and implementation of operational efficiencies including process and technical innovations, quality and cost management strategies and training/capabilities improvements that enhance the overall donation experience. Prior to joining Octapharma Plasma in 2008, Bill worked in the plasma industry and advanced through various positions of increasing responsibility at both the center and corporate level, providing a depth and breadth of experience to drive operational effectiveness. Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Kansas State University and an MBA from University of Phoenix.

Alice Stewart

Senior Director, Supply Chain

Alice Stewart joined Octapharma Plasma Inc. in 2009. With nearly 20 years experience in supply chain, she is responsible for the overall corporate strategy and direction of purchasing, customer and supplier operations, and facilities management. Additionally, Alice held primary responsibility for managing the construction of Octapharma Plasma’s new corporate headquarters and state-of-the-art laboratory testing and plasma-storage facility opened in 2014. Day to day operations of the laboratory and plasma storage facility fall under the leadership and management of Alice’s supply chain team. Prior to joining Octapharma Plasma, Alice was a senior director of customer supply chain at Springs Global, responsible for demand planning, customer service, distribution strategy and logistics planning. Alice holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in logistics and transportation and an MBA from Winthrop University.

Kathy Taylor

Senior Director of Human Resources, Training and Development

Kathy Taylor joined Octapharma Plasma Inc. in 2013 with more than 25 years of global human resources experience in the manufacturing, financial services and automotive industries. Kathy is responsible for developing and executing corporate and center-level human resource strategies and initiatives that drive business results in support of Octapharma Plasma’s significant growth. Kathy has extensive experience in a wide scope of HR and operational areas, including talent management and succession planning, continuous improvement processes, learning and development, talent sourcing, employee relations, and compensation and benefits. Kathy has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in human resources development from George Washington University.

Ray Reyes

Senior Director, Information Technology-Corporate Head of IT Infrastructure

Ray Reyes joined Octapharma Plasma Inc. in 2011, bringing with him more than 18 years of experience in technology/IT infrastructure. Ray is responsible for Octapharma’s global IT infrastructure and overall business technology strategy, ensuring a streamlined and fully integrated approach to all systems company wide. Ray provides a discerning approach to new and existing technologies; identifying opportunity and need, prioritization, cost and operational effectiveness in order to continue to implement technological change and advancement, both at the corporate and local level. Prior to joining Octapharma Plasma, Ray was IT director at Inspiration Ministries. Ray holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Kaplan University.

Monica Byrd

Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance

Monica Byrd joined Octapharma Plasma Inc. in 2010 with more than 20 years experience in quality management and laboratory operations for the blood and plasma industries. In her role, Monica is responsible for the development, continuous improvement, consistency and sustainability of quality control processes throughout the organization to ensure that Octapharma Plasma meets applicable customer, state, federal and international regulatory requirements. Prior to joining Octapharma Plasma, Monica was senior quality director for International BioResources, where she had oversight of the field quality assurance program to ensure compliance with FDA and European Commission requirements for Source Plasma. Monica holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Emory University and a MBA from University of Phoenix.
